Constant current power supply is best for LED lighting power supply
White LEDs are put to practical use, and most LED lighting fixtures in recent years use many LEDs.
LED lamps are equipped with one to tens of LED elements, more than 100 are not uncommon.
The problem when using multiple LEDs is the dispersion of individual LED elements. Even if a certain voltage is applied to the LED, the current flowing through each LED differs by several times (see the right graph).

It is not desirable for lighting to use a power supply that uses a constant voltage power supply because there will be a difference in luminance and color when there is this variation.
In order to solve this, it is best to use constant current power supply. By turning on the LED with constant current drive, it not only aims at the intrinsic brightness and color of the LED, but also reduces the load on the LED, which can reduce heat generation and prolong the life.
However, general power supplies are mostly constant voltage power supplies, including those for PCs.

It is a power supply compatible with a method of performing phase control (triac) with a dimmer.
Even in unstable state during phase control, in order to light the LED steadily, design with power supply and LED driver configuration that are optimum for the lighting fixture.
A configuration with external MOS-FETs is also available to accommodate high power LEDs.

It is a power supply compatible with the dimming method by sending a dimming signal (PWM) from the dimmer.
Since the unstable part at the phase control is eliminated, it is possible to achieve smooth dimming with less flicker.
However, a signal line dedicated to dimming is required separately.

Recently, attempts have been made to control contained nutrients by adding light of other wavelengths in a balanced manner to this. This can be realized by taking advantage of single wavelength characteristics of LED.

LED lighting units for plant breeding research are being put into practical use that can accurately program control light balance and irradiation time in order to respond to market voices that want to specify different optimum light environmental conditions for each plant.

Fishing lamp control - Automatic control of light sources with different wavelengths

Application to fish reacting to specific wavelengths is being used for fishery fishing lamps. Depending on fish species and harvest time, it is necessary to switch delicate wavelengths, and there is a demand for automatic control.

Since the peak emission wavelength (450 to 500 nm) of the blue light-emitting diode (LED) is almost consistent with less light attenuation in the ocean and near the maximum value (470 to 490 nm) of the visual sensitivity of the squid type , It has extremely excellent characteristics as a fish lamp light source. Furthermore, fishing lamps using blue LEDs have the following features.

(1) The power consumption is extremely low and a significant fuel oil saving effect is expected, bringing about improvement of management of squid fishing fishery management body and reduction of CO2 emission.
